Before you read this post, please read the post found here:
Now here’s my argument against it.
First off, I would like to mention that you are missing extremely, extremely vital points here.
You seem to think that God causes everything bad. Have you forgotten that according to the Christian faith, MY faith, Satan exists? Satan tempts, Satan destroys, Satan corrupts. God makes the good things, and Satan twists them.
You are also missing the fact that God does not INFLICT bad upon us. We inflict bad upon ourselves.
I’m not saying you HAVE to believe this yourself. That’s your choice. But if you’re going to argue against Christianity, please actually pay attention to the key elements of Christianity. If you go at it like this, no faithful, virtuous, heartfelt Christian is going to deny their faith when they read your writing.
We sin. God does not sin. We sin. We brought down ruin upon ourselves. Satan tempted us, and we gave in. God had no part in that. He gave us the freedom of choice, and we chose corruption.
“A loving father does not cause harm to his children, make them sick on purpose, kill them or their family or friends to teach them a lesson. He does not send them to the hospital after causing them to have a serious accident. NO! Such a father would be put in jail for a very long time. No sane person would accept this kind of father in today’s society. This kind of father is a hideous monster.”
You talk as if all illness is caused by God. That’s just illogical. Sickness is just part of nature. It’s not like God put every single death and every single disease in the world just to punish us. Satan does that. Satan tries to make the sickness distract us from God. He put sickness in the world so that people will get the wrong message, like you. And also, death isn’t a bad thing. At least, it isn’t SUPPOSED to be. Not for Christians, which we were designed to be. When Christians die, we go to Heaven. So I suppose for non-Christians, death is a bad thing, because you go to hell when you die. But that wasn’t what God made us for. God made hell for demons, not non-Christians. The only reason you will go to hell when you die is because you CHOSE to be on Satan’s side. You are CHOOSING to join the demons in hell after death. You can’t say that’s God’s fault. That doesn’t make sense. That’s YOUR fault.
“First off a loving father is there from the very beginning and makes his presence known sometimes before the child is even born. He takes great care to see that the woman carrying the child is safe and well taken care of and when the child is born he is offered the same courtesy.”
Aherm, you seem to imply that that’s NOT how God is. Well, you’re wrong. That’s exactly how God is. Psalm 139:13, 15 and 16say, “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. …My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed, and in Your book they were all written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.”
God has taken care of each of us since the beginning of time. You are wrong. You are completely wrong. God knew you before you existed, knew your thoughts before you thought them. He made you exactly as you are. Because He loves you. He loves you so, so, so much. More than you can imagine.
And by racking up this ignorant piece of writing, you are spitting in God’s face. You are spitting on Him and His Word even as He loves you beyond all comprehension, beyond all knowledge, for all eternity.
“As the child grows up the father is always there. Providing for every need, answering every question and insuring the child has a good and fruitful life. When the child calls for his father, the father replies in an instant that he is there. There is no mysterious silence with the child left to doubt and guess about the presence of his father…. A real loving father is there from day one. He talks to you, listens, provides answers and takes care of his children. There is no guess work at what he wants for his child’s life. There is no guess work if he is even there at all. There is no guess work for his reasons as he explains them clearly to his children. He doesn’t write a bunch of notes in a book and then sit back and expect his children to figure it out.”
Ever covered your ears when horrible music was playing, or an ambulance blared past you? Why do you think you did that? Because it sounded terrible to you and you didn’t want to hear it. Same goes with not hearing God’s voice. Just because you don’t hear Him doesn’t mean He’s not speaking. It just means You aren’t listening. You don’t care what He says. You are blocking your ears to His voice. Again, that is not God’s fault. That is your fault.
Without God, we are confused and helpless. You’re acting like that’s God’s doing? That doesn’t even make sense. Is it the GPS’s fault if you decide to take the wrong turn? No. Same goes with God. He’s given us His Word, and He speaks to us and shows us the way, but if we block Him out and ignore Him, obviously we aren’t going to hear Him.
“When the child has a question, even a tough and challenging question, the father provides an answer that the child can understand. The answer will be a real answer too, not some over baked generic excuse like “god has his reasons”. A loving father will provide the answers and information his child needs to live a good life.”
Just because we don’t understand doesn’t mean God doesn’t want us to understand. Come on, now. It’s called common sense.
God does have His reasons. Say you’re a little kid wanting to run across the street when a car is coming. Your father is going to stop you from getting hit, for your own safety. Now, you don’t understand, of course, why he’s doing that, because you’re just a little kid. So you scream and kick and fight. Just because you don’t understand doesn’t mean God DOESN’T have His reasons. It just means you’re so busy trying to get onto that street that you don’t pause to look down the road and see the car coming.
God does everything He can to help us. Just because it seems stupid and pointless at the time doesn’t mean it IS stupid and pointless.
“When the child breaks the rules the father punishes the child in a way that no harm comes to the physical or mental well being and that punishment will be clear enough to the child so he will understand what he did wrong. The punishment should be equal to the wrong committed. The father will also provide for a way for the child to learn and grow from the experience and be better for it.”
Again, just because you don’t see why God punishes us for certain things doesn’t mean there isn’t something to see.
I may mention that God DOES “provide a way for the child to learn and grow from the experience and be better for it.” He does. Maybe you don’t get that, for some reason, but God does. I’m not sure how else to explain that. But, take my word for it, every single time He has punished me, or put me through rough times, I have come out of it stronger than I was before. So again, you’re wrong about God and His reasons.
Also, just because someone doesn’t “understand what he did wrong” doesn’t mean it’s impossible for him to understand. It just means he’s not trying to understand. Or maybe he is trying, but hey, there are always some things we just can’t quite grasp, right? That doesn’t mean God did something wrong.
“Any father who ignores his children’s requests, even if he has to say no, punishes them with illness, physical harm, death or mental anguish, kills or harms friends or family, causes financial ruin and does anything devastating to his children is just a plain sick tyrannical monster. Out of love or not, it’s still wrong to treat your children this way.”
I’ve already covered that latter parts of this one, but I would like to address the beginning. “Any father who ignores his children’s requests, even if he has to say no…”
Okay, HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT? How dare you? How DARE you say God ignores us? God does NOT ignore us. God has never, doesn’t, and never will ignore us. You, right now, are covering your ears with your hands and saying “La, la, la, la, la…” repeatedly. Just because you’re doing that DOES NOT MEAN GOD IS IGNORING YOU. That does not make sense. That’s contradictory.
So, imagine this: I am yelling at you. You plug your ears so that you can’t hear me anymore. Then you say I’m not yelling at you.
That just does not make sense.
“Read the Bible and look around your church and see what god is really like. When one out of a hundred are cured of cancer (after months of treatment of course) it is not a miracle. Where is the miracle for the other 99?”
Miracle? You speak of miracles? Would you like me to tell about a miracle?
I have lived in darkness the majority of my life. I hallucinated as a little kid. I had terrible nightmares. I was haunted and haunted and haunted. I wanted to die. I was desperate. I wanted to kill myself.
Then God came. God came into my life. And do you know what? All of the darkness fled. Because God is so powerful that no evil can remain where He stays.
God DIED for you. He suffered and died and rose again so that you could be forgiven.
I can’t let you sit there and dis my God and Savior. I just can’t. God has given me life and happiness and healing and relief and joy and compassion and you are telling me He is cruel.
That in itself makes zero sense.
So I won’t do nothing while you say these things. That is insulting.
So please, just listen to me. Unplug your ears. Open your eyes. See the nonsense in what you’re doing.
You tell me to read the Bible and look around my church to see what God is really like. Well, clearly, this is something you have not done, since everything you’ve said about Christianity is completely wrong and unreasonable. You don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. So before you go and tell me what I’M saying that’s wrong, how about you go and fix what YOU’RE saying that’s wrong.
